Milan sporting director Igli Tare is ‘honoured’ to be part of Milan’s history and feels he can’t ‘go higher’ than the Rossoneri while the club supported his decision to hire Max Allegri this summer.
Milan director Tare spoke about the first few months of his tenure at San Siro in an interview with Top Story.

“It was something I felt would eventually happen,” Tare said via MilanNews.
“I always thought that one day my path would cross with this club, and in fact it did. There had even been an opportunity in the past to make it happen, and I knew it was only a matter of time. I’ve been very patient ever since I concluded my experience with Lazio: 18 years at the club, three as a player and 15 as a sporting director.”
Tare was appointed after a poor 2024-25 campaign during which Milan only won the Supercoppa Italiana and finished outside a European placement in Serie A.
Tare’s appointment was the first step of the new Milan course, followed by the return of Allegri as the new head coach.

“The club supported my opinion to hire him as a coach because of his experience and the way he handles different situations with the team and with the club. He’s excellent in all of this,” Tare said.
The Rossoneri share the top spot of the Serie A table with Napoli and Roma, having collected four wins and one loss in the opening five league games of the campaign.
“I want to stay as long as possible because this is a club that represents the peak. You can’t go higher than Milan,” Tare added.
“It’s among the most decorated clubs in the world alongside Real Madrid. Until a few years ago, it was the club with the highest number of trophies won. To reach this level, it took extremely hard work, sacrifice and passion. It is an honour for me to be part of the history of such a club. Being part of this reality makes me very proud.
“On a personal level, my experience with Milan is crucial. For me, it’s not just a club but an integral part of my career and my life. Therefore, there’s a spiritual duty to win with this club and be part of its history.”
Milan’s next game is against direct rivals Juventus at the Allianz Stadium in Turin on Sunday, October 5.
