Barcelona teenage superstar Lamine Yamal has suffered a recurrence of discomfort in his pubis and will be sidelined for between two and three weeks, the club confirmed.

The injury rules the 18-year-old winger out of Sunday’s match against Sevilla at the Sanchez Pizjuan as well as the upcoming international fixtures with Spain against Georgia and Bulgaria.

Objective El Clasico

Now, according to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona’s plan is to have Lamine Yamal fully fit and ready to face Real Madrid in the first El Clasico of the season later this month.

The report states that the La Masia sensation is a serious doubt for Barça’s match against Girona, right after the international break on 18 October, with only 15 days between the injury and that game.

There are uncertainties over his availability for the UEFA Champions League fixture against Olympiacos on 21 October as well.

As such, the objective is for him to return in time for El Clasico against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu on 26 October.

The discomfort in the same area that had already kept Lamine out for around three weeks in September. He only returned to action last Sunday against Real Sociedad, before starting vs PSG on Wednesday.

However, the 18-year-old limped off with notable pain during the Champions League match at Montjuic.

The focus is now on his recovery and return for Barcelona’s important fixtures later this month, particularly the Clasico against Real Madrid, with the hope being that he is fully ready in time for the visit to the Spanish capital.
