Tarik Muharemović signs for Leeds United! | OneFootball

Leeds United are delighted to confirm the signing of Tarik Muharemović, who joins the club from Italian Serie A side Sassuolo on a five-year-deal for an undisclosed fee.

The towering defender becomes our second permanent addition of the summer transfer window after the signing of Harry Wilson, bringing a wealth of experience at a young age.

Muharemović was a stand-out performer for Sassuolo throughout the 2025/26 campaign as his side finished in a highly respectable 11th place. Following that fine form, the 23-year-old went on to represent Bosnia and Herzegovina at the FIFA World Cup this summer.

A commanding centre-back who stands at 6ft 4’ in height, Tarik began his career in Austria and made his professional debut for Wolfsberger AC in the country’s top-flight.

Just six matches with the club were enough to alert clubs from across Europe and Italian giants Juventus swooped quickly to secure his services, where Tarik was able to develop further and would go on to become a full international whilst in Turin.

In August 2024, he went on loan to Sassuolo and scored for the club in just his second game. That was the sign of an impressive season to come as the Neroverdi were crowned champions of Serie B, earning promotion back to the Italian top division.

With 30 appearances under his belt for the club, Muharemović’s move to the Mapei Stadium was made permanent. He then continued his fine form with a further 33 appearances last season across all competitions.

At international level, the central defender has also flourished with 17 senior caps to his name, having played in the UEFA Nations League, World Cup Qualifiers, World Cup Play-Offs, and ultimately this summer’s finals.

Muharemović becomes our second signing of the summer and everyone at Leeds United would like to welcome him to the club, as we continue our preparations for the 2026/27 Premier League season.
