RB Leipzig have appointed Tatjana Haenni as president on Wednesday. She will become the first woman to preside over a German football club when she takes office on 1 January 2026.

She said in a statement that she is eager to start in January and to get to know the club in depth, adding that the aim is to build on existing success and pursue ambitious targets.

She will succeed Oliver Mintzlaff.

Haenni, 59, is a former Switzerland international with 23 caps.

Since retiring she has held roles linked to the women's game at UEFA, FIFA and the Swiss Football Association, SFV. Since 2023 she has worked for the NWSL, the North American women's league.
