Rangers were desperate to maintain their winning momentum ahead of next weekend’s epic Old Firm clash in the League Cup final. It was never going to be a stroll in the park against Livingston at Almondvale, but the Gers skipper James Tavernier sealed the deal with his sheer individual brilliance.

Below are the Rangers players rated in their 3-0 win against Livingston.

Allan McGregor: 7

The Lions failed to test the veteran Scotsman in the Light Blues goal. He has been inconsistent of late, but the result this afternoon should uplift his confidence ahead of clashing heads with Celtic at Hampden Park.

James Tavernier: 9

Missed it from the spot against Partick Thistle, but the captain fantastic made no mistake this time as he slotted home his 50th penalty goal in style. Doubled the lead in the second half with a stunning free-kick and secured all three points for the Glasgow giants.

Connor Goldson: 8

Was spot-on with his tackles and ground duels. Struggled at times in the air, but he did well to win the second balls to handle the threat in the defensive third.

Ben Davies: 8

His long balls lacked accuracy, but the Englishman showed his calmness and composure in the heart of the backline. Made some timely tackles, won the duels and was effective with no-nonsense clearances.

Borna Barisic: 8

Kept on making overlapping runs and whipping in crosses inside the box. Played a few passes inside the box, and also played his part in Roofe’s late goal that made it 3-0 at The Spaghettihad.

Glen Kamara: 7.5

Another classy display from the Fin who controlled the tempo with his technicality and game-reading. Carried the ball from the deep and played through balls to split the Livi defence on a number of occasions. Was taken off for James Sands minutes before the final whistle.

Nicolas Raskin: 7.5

Struggled at times to win the challenges, but the Belgian was willing to make recoveries and regain possession in the middle of the park. Settling down well in the new surroundings following a winter move from Standard Liege. Made way for Scott Wright in the closing minutes of the game.

Fashion Sakala: 7

Was denied twice by Shamal George in the Livi goal. Caused menace with his pacy runs and swift skills. Was replaced by Kemar Roofe midway through the second half.

Todd Cantwell: 7.5

Depicted his creative spark as a ‘number 10’. Linked up well with fellow attackers and played the whole game as an advanced playmaker.

Ryan Kent: 7

His flair and finesse down the left kept David Martindale’s men on their toes. Forced George to make a save and was taken off for Bailey Rice in the closing minutes of the game.

Alfredo Morelos: 7.5

Won a penalty which was converted by Tavernier to break the deadlock. Was involved in an array of build-ups in and around the attacking third. Was replaced by Antonio Colak late in the contest.
