Taylor Harwood-Bellis ‘to be targeted’ by Benfica in €20m move | OneFootball

Benfica are set to move for Taylor Harwood-Bellis as they seek a fourth centre-back.

According to Glorioso 1904, the deal is being discussed at around €20m, with the England international identified as the chosen option from Southampton in the Championship.

The target is intended to replace António Silva, not Charlie Cresswell, and add competition in Marco Silva’s squad. Harwood-Bellis could even push for a starting place.

Developed at Manchester City, he made eight senior appearances, one in the Champions League, before a 2021 winter exit for loans to Blackburn Rovers, Anderlecht, Stoke City, Burnley and Southampton. He became a leading figure with the Saints.

He captained England Under-21s to the 2023 European title, winning 1-0 against Spain in the final. At senior level he has one cap, against Ireland, a 5-0 Nations League B win in November 2024, coming on with 28 minutes left and scoring.

Last season for Southampton he played 48 matches, 43 in the Championship, four in the FA Cup and one in the League Cup. Across 4,323 minutes he scored seven goals and supplied two assists.
