Terzic hands Sancet full 97-minute outing at San Mamés | OneFootball

Oihan Sancet played all 97 minutes against Sevilla at San Mamés, a timely boost in Edin Terzic’s bid to restore the playmaker’s best level.

As reported by as.com, it was his first full competitive outing since 22 December against Espanyol under Ernesto Valverde. A week earlier, at Ourense in the Cup, he had been replaced in extra time by Unai Gómez.

Valverde, from Viandar de la Vera, often withdrew Sancet, and injuries further cut his game time. Eight months on, at the first time of asking, Terzic kept him on despite fading, wanting Sancet to spearhead the side with Nico Williams.

Last season, beyond Espanyol, Sancet only completed regulation time against Villarreal on 27 September 25. He registered 28 league appearances, three in the Cup, one in the Supercopa and six in the Champions, scoring six goals, four in the league.

The German coach also started Sancet alongside Canales, back from a loan at Racing and seen as his natural deputy, in a midfield triangle with Beñat Gerenabarrena, who added legs. That left Galarreta and Jauregizar in reserve.

An early red card for Yuri Berchihe disrupted the plan, with his side playing more than 80 minutes a man down and adjustments required. A stern test now awaits against Barça on Thursday.
