Tevez has confirmed his long-awaited testimonial at La Bombonera, five years on from his 2021 Boca exit. The player said in a post that the tribute will run under the banners 'Adiós Apache' and 'De alcanzapelotas a leyenda', with ESPN to televise it. The date and kick-off are yet to be confirmed, and it is expected in late 2026.
Raised in the club’s academy, he made 279 official appearances and scored 94 goals for Boca. His haul included the Copa Libertadores and Intercontinental Cup in 2003, the Copa Sudamericana in 2004, and seven domestic titles.
Abroad, he represented Corinthians, West Ham, Manchester United, Manchester City, Juventus and Shanghái Shenhua. Across his career he totalled 747 matches, 308 goals and 144 assists. He won one UEFA Champions League and two Premier League titles with United, added a Premier League with City, and reached the European final with Juventus in 2015 before returning to Boca.
For his farewell, he intends to invite star names he once played alongside, including Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Gianluigi Buffon, Edwin van der Sar, Paul Scholes, Rio Ferdinand, Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci, Nemanja Vidić, Park Ji-sung and Patrice Evra.
Since retiring, the former striker has coached Rosario Central, Independiente and Talleres de Córdoba in Argentina. The tribute is set to draw thousands to Brandsen 805 and will allow the Boca board to reconnect with historic figures.
