Michael Olise caused a stir in the friendly match between France and Colombia – not because of his performance, but because of a dangerous incident shortly before the end
The FC Bayern attacking player was the victim of a reckless tackle in the final minutes of the game (3-1 to France), which left national coach Didier Deschamps visibly angry after the match and with strong words
Speaking to TF1, the French coach vented his displeasure: „You know as well as I do that South American teams are like that. In this case, it helps a little to know that there is no VAR, especially with this last action, the last tackle on Michael Olise.“
The potential consequences of the action in particular caused a lack of understanding from Deschamps, who felt his player was in grave danger and made it clear how narrowly Olise had escaped serious injury
„Luckily,“ explained Deschamps, Olise jumped up in time at the scene, „otherwise he would only have one leg left.“
For the national team coach, a clear line had been crossed: although a certain amount of toughness is part of soccer, in this case the intensity was clearly too high
„But that’s going a bit too far. It’s not always punished. I told the fourth official: ‚That’s not American football.‘ There are no tackles. Fortunately, there were no serious consequences.“
For FC Bayern, one piece of news is likely to be particularly important: Olise was uninjured. The Frenchman was only substituted against Colombia in the closing stages and was able to finish the game without any major problems despite the incident

In view of the crucial weeks in the Bundesliga and Champions League, the loss of the attacking star would have been a major setback. Olise is currently one of the most important players in Vincent Kompany’s team and plays a key role in Munich’s attacking play
FC Bayern’s next important game is this weekend, when they face SC Freiburg away from home, and after the scare in the national team jersey, the record champions can now at least breathe a sigh of relief in this personnel matter.
