These players will be unavailable for the clash at the Den between promotion hopefuls Millwall and Norwich City

One of the games of the weekend across the EFL in matchday 2 takes place at the Den, as promotion hopefuls Millwall and Norwich City go head-to-head.

Both are being tipped to land in the expanded play-offs come May, with some outside hopes of perhaps breaking into the top two, something that Alex Neil's side came very close to doing last season.

Millwall picked up where they left off last year on opening day, dismantling 10-man Bristol City at Ashton Gate. Meanwhile, Norwich couldn't get out of the traps at Carrow Road against West Bromwich Albion, losing 2-1 in a match where the Canaries missed a plethora of chances.

Philippe Clement's side won't want to lose back-to-back to open the new season, but the Den is a difficult place to go, and Millwall will be eager to continue on the wave of momentum in their first home league game of the campaign.

It'll be an intriguing matchup, but these 10 players unfortunately won't be involved.

Femi Azeez

Millwall went into the new campaign with a few key players on the sidelines, and that injury list grew when star man Femi Azeez limped off after 30 minutes with a hamstring issue.

Lions boss Alex Neil stated that he could miss a week or two with the injury following the game, but played down the idea that last weekend could have been his last game for the club, after a breakout campaign last season where he registered 19 goal contributions in 35 games.

Reportedly valued in the region of £30 million by Millwall, the talented winger's future in South-East London remains under the microscope heading into the final stages of the window.

Tristan Crama

Tristan Crama also had a breakout campaign last year, emerging as a towering right-back while Jake Cooper and Caleb Taylor played in the middle of the back four.

He played every game last season, but missed the opening day last week after undergoing a second ankle surgery over the off-season earlier this month following a friendly against Royal Antwerp.

Derek Mazou-Sacko

Young midfielder Derek Mazou-Sacko didn't feature prominently in his debut year at Millwall, but did start three of the final four in an important run-in, and was named from the off in both play-off semi-final legs against Hull City, too.

He suffered a training setback ahead of their EFL Cup win over QPR a fortnight ago, and will continue to miss time with that calf injury.

Alfie Doughty

It's been a tumultuous 12 months for Alfie Doughty at Millwall. Everyone knows the quality he has; he showed it in the Premier League with Luton Town, but injury and inconsistency have prevented him from getting going at the Den.

His latest setback, a hamstring injury, will see him out for the opening month of the campaign.

Mihailo Ivanovic

Josh Coburn's opening-day brace left many Millwall fans hopeful of their attacking prospects this season. If the former Middlesbrough man can stay fit, he could find himself near the top of the goalscoring charts.

The entire forward line isn't completely healthy, though, as Mihailo Ivanovic continues to miss time after fracturing his metatarsal in early July. Earlier this week, Alex Neil stated he was still a few weeks away from a return.

Mathis Servais

Millwall's new number eight, Mathis Servais, is yet to make his debut for the club after suffering a hamstring injury in a pre-season friendly against Bromley in July.

Last season, the 21-year-old registered four goal contributions in the Belgian top flight for KV Mechelen.

Ali Ahmed

On the away side, Norwich City's main absentee is Ali Ahmed, who is set to miss the majority of, or even the entirety of the 2026/27 campaign after sustaining an ACL injury the week before the season began.

The 25-year-old registered seven goal involvements in the second half of last season, after arriving from MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps in January.

Lucien Mahovo

Left-back Lucien Mahovo went down with an ankle injury last month during a pre-season friendly against Colchester United, and it was revealed he would spend the start of the year on the sidelines.

There'll be some hope that, with a full week of training, new arrival Darlin Yongwa can make his debut, after missing last week due to a lack of pre-season.

Mirko Topic

Serbian international Mirko Topic played just a game and a half under Philippe Clement before going down with an ACL injury in late November that has ruled him out ever since.

The defensive midfielder should be in the final stages of his recovery, but after not being mentioned by Clement as someone close to returning ahead of last week's game, like the likes of Jovan Makama and Gabe Forsyth, it'll be expected that Millwall will be too soon for a return.

Ante Crnac

Similarly, Ante Crnac has also been on the sidelines since October with an ACL injury and has yet to play under Philippe Clement.

The 22-year-old is also in the final stages of recovery, and spoke this week of his desire to impress the Belgian boss when he's fit and ready to go. In his debut campaign at Carrow Road two years ago, he netted seven times in 38 league appearances.
