It is shaping up to be another exciting and competitive season in the Championship, and with promotion and relegation on the line once again, there will be many fierce battles on the pitch between now and May.

However, there is also sure to be plenty of back and forth between supporters in the stands, and with social media becoming an increasingly prominent part of the football world, the arguments and debates will often continue online.

With that in mind, we asked ChatGPT to rank the seven Championship clubs with the most annoying fans on social media.

Hull City narrowly avoided relegation from the Championship on goal difference last season, and with the club experiencing another managerial change this summer, in addition to financial issues that have seen them hit with a two-window transfer fee ban, there has been little for supporters to cheer about of late.

As a result of the difficult times the club has experienced, ChatGPT believes that Tigers supporters often feel "disrespected" and take out their frustrations on rival fans on social media, and while consistently strong runs of form have been few and far between in recent years, it claims that they often get carried away when their side achieves a good result.

AI also notes that Hull's social media team can be antagonistic on social media through what it describes as "bold memes and trolling" to wind up supporters of other clubs, and this contributes to the club's annoying reputation.

Having recorded a disappointing 13th-placed finish last season, Norwich City will be hoping to mount a more sustained promotion challenge this time around, particularly after a summer of big spending, and their play-off hopes were given a huge boost as star striker Josh Sargent unexpectedly remained at the club beyond the end of the transfer window.

Under former owners Delia Smith and Michael Wynn-Jones and current chief Mark Attanasio, the Canaries have developed a reputation for being a well-run, sustainable football club, but ChatGPT claims that this has created a smug and self-righteous attitude among supporters on social media, which can often be irritating for rival fans.

Norwich have spent six of the last 14 years in the Premier League, but AI believes that their spells in the top flight have led to accusations that their supporters are arrogant, with some insisting that they belong at a higher level than the Championship.

Bristol City reached the Championship play-offs for the first time since 2008 last season before comprehensively losing to Sheffield United at the semi-final stage, but after a positive start to life under new head coach Gerhard Struber, they will be aiming to be in the promotion mix once again in the year ahead.

Prior to last season, the Robins had experienced years of mid-table mediocrity, and ChatGPT believes that the noise their supporters make on social media is much louder than it should be considering their limited achievements, while it claims that the Ashton Gate faithful react negatively when they feel they are being overlooked or dismissed.

AI also pointed out that City supporters regularly make bold predictions for their team at the start of each season, but their optimism often turns out to be misplaced as their expectations do not match with results on the pitch.

4 Derby County

Derby County only secured their Championship status on the final day of last season, but after significant investment in the squad this summer, they will be hopeful of climbing the table, even if a promotion push may be a step too far at this stage.

It was not long ago that the Rams were consistent promotion contenders in the second tier, but they now operate at a more modest level after their financial problems, and ChatGPT believes this has caused some conflict within the fanbase, with some still holding onto memories of more successful eras in the past under managers such as Frank Lampard, who led the club to the play-off final in 2019.

As well as "exaggerating" the club's current level, AI also stated that Derby supporters are frequently involved in clashes with fans of their fellow Midlands clubs on social media, including Nottingham Forest, Leicester City and Birmingham City.

Birmingham City are back in the Championship after winning the League One title with an EFL-record total of 111 points last season, and they are not willing to simply make up the numbers in the second tier, with owner Tom Wagner making it clear that the club are aiming for back-to-back promotions.

With Aston Villa currently being the dominant club in the Midlands, ChatGPT claims that Blues supporters have what it describes as "strong underdog with a chip on their shoulder energy", and it believes they have a tendency to become overconfident during brief spells of good form.

AI also believes that the Birmingham faithful often make digs at Villa on social media, even when such hostility is not required, but with Wagner stating that his goal is to one day to compete with their rivals in Europe, their ongoing feud with their near neighbours is unlikely to ease any time soon.

It was another underwhelming campaign for Stoke City last term as they only narrowly avoided relegation, but while it is still early in the season, the early signs suggest a better year could be ahead for the club this time around under the guidance of manager Mark Robins.

The Potters have failed to finish higher than 14th in any of their seven seasons in the Championship since relegation from the Premier League in 2018, but there have been plenty of false dawns in that time, and ChatGPT believes supporters often get carried away on social media when their team show moments of promise.

According to AI, the Stoke fanbase often make "bold" and "delusional" predictions about their club, and it also claims that they place too much emphasis on their top flight heritage, despite the iconic Tony Pulis era ending a long time ago.

Millwall only just fell short of the play-offs last season after a strong second half of the campaign under Alex Neil, but they will be confident that this can be the year they finally reach the top six after a number of near misses in recent times.

The Den is known as one of the most hostile grounds for away teams to visit in the country, and ChatGPT believes Lions supporters have a similarly fearsome reputation on social media, with many often being "aggressive" and "combative".

AI claims that the Millwall faithful regularly take pleasure in winding up supporters of other clubs online, and it notes that they are sometimes accused of being "toxic", which has earned them the title of the most annoying Championship fanbase on social media.
