The British outlet The Athletic reports that Spanish football icon and former FC Barcelona star Andrés Iniesta is being considered for a role with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), though the exact nature of the position has yet to be determined.

According to the same source, discussions between the two parties are ongoing, with details expected to be ironed out in upcoming meetings. The Moroccan federation is particularly keen to leverage Iniesta’s experience and expertise to drive forward its football development project.

In this context, an official invitation has been extended to the former Spanish international to attend, as guest of honour, the Africa Cup of Nations final scheduled for this Sunday night in Rabat between Morocco and Senegal. Iniesta is expected to use this opportunity to listen to the proposals of Moroccan officials.

Meanwhile, according to reports from Spanish daily AS, the FRMF is considering bringing Iniesta into the national football project in a technical or administrative capacity, potentially as sporting director or technical advisor for the national teams.

This initiative aims to tap into the former “La Roja” captain’s experience in youth development and talent nurturing, while also strengthening the joint Morocco-Spain-Portugal bid to host the 2030 World Cup.
