The Best Offensive Players: Gnabry Is a Force Up Front, Musiala Is Back in the Mix | OneFootball

Twice a year, *kicker* publishes a ranking of German soccer. In doing so, the trade magazine evaluates the performances of Bundesliga players and classifies them into different categories. Now it was the turn of the attacking midfielders. 

The categories in question are World Class, International Class, and National Class. These lists spark discussions year after year, especially among fans who feel that players from “their” team have been unfairly rated.

For example, there was some commotion surrounding FC Bayern’s center-back position, where Dayot Upamecano was not placed in the “World-Class” category. The fact that Aleksandar Pavlovic landed only in 16th place among central midfielders also came as a surprise.

In attacking midfield, one Bayern player ranks quite high. We’re talking about Serge Gnabry, who made it into the “international class” category and landed in third place on the list.

In fact, only three players made it into this category: Nadiem Amiri, who tops the list, and Andrej Kramaric, listed in second place, are ranked ahead of Gnabry. However, the national team player has also dealt with a few injuries, most notably missing the final stretch of the season and, as a result, the World Cup in North America.

Jamal Musiala is back on the list this time after his long injury layoff. Because he still struggled with consistency following his comeback and had to take it easy here and there, he ranks sixth. Ahead of him are Christoph Baumgartner of RB Leipzig and Alexis Claude-Maurice, who plays for FC Augsburg.

Rounding out the top 10 are Paul Nebel (Mainz 05), Ibrahim Maza (Bayer Leverkusen), Bilal El Khannouss (VfB Stuttgart), and Fabio Vieira (Hamburger SV).
