Michael Olise put on yet another stellar performance in FC Bayern’s 7-0 rout of Union Berlin. The Frenchman scored three goals and set up another. On social media, fans, the media, and experts showered the 24-year-old with praise.
Olise made it 3–0 shortly before halftime and really turned it on after the break. First, he set up Harry Kane’s second goal, then the Frenchman scored twice himself. For Olise, it was the first hat trick of his club career.
His stats so far this season are impressive. After eight competitive matches, the attacking star already has eight goals and three assists—a total of eleven direct goal contributions.
His performance against Union sparked a huge reaction. As Bayern continued to tear Berlin apart, the soccer website 433 posted a short but pointed comment on X: “Stop it, you’re already dead.”
Olise’s rise is now causing a stir even outside Germany. After the spectacular performance against Union, Spanish sports journalist José I. Araoz focused particularly on the transfer fee Bayern paid in the summer of 2024 for the then-Crystal Palace player.
“The fact that Bayern paid 53 million euros for him. The biggest rip-off in history,” Araoz wrote on X.
What was a substantial investment at the time now appears in a completely different light in light of Olise’s development. Since his transfer, the French national team player has emerged as one of the record champions’ most important offensive players.
Under Vincent Kompany, Olise also enjoys a great deal of freedom. The 24-year-old is no longer confined exclusively to the right wing but regularly cuts into the center, where he takes on playmaking duties.
This versatility was on full display once again against Union. Olise created chances for his teammates, set up a goal, and showed exceptional efficiency in front of the net himself.
Sky reporter Kerry Hau, who watched the lopsided victory live at the Allianz Arena, took it a step further. For him, the Frenchman’s current level of performance isn’t even the end of his development.
“It’s absurd what Michael Olise delivers game after game. Even more absurd is that he gives the impression he’s still far from reaching his limit. The best player in the world,” Hau wrote.
Harry Kane also raved about his teammate after the match. The Englishman highlighted not only Olise’s soccer skills but also his personality within the Bayern locker room.
“He’s such a great guy. I know you don’t always see that from the outside, but everyone has their own way of playing soccer and their own way of carrying themselves off the field. Playing with Michael is just wonderful.”
At the very latest after his first hat trick at the club level, Olise is once again in the spotlight. Eight goals and three assists in eight competitive matches show just how much of an impact the Frenchman is currently having on Bayern’s play.
And if you believe the impressions from those around him, the 24-year-old’s current level is far from his peak.
