With the Premier League season having passed the midway point, football fans have more than enough of a sample size to make conclusions on their club’s summer transfer business.

Of course, most players are signed with the long term in mind, but it already looks as though some teams have made some fantastic signings for a bargain price.

We’ve had a look back at the biggest bargains of last summer’s window…

Robin Roefs – NEC Nijmegen to Sunderland, £11.5m

The signing of goalkeeper Roefs not only looks like one of the bargains of the summer, but one of the best signings overall.

Roefs has kept seven clean sheets in 21 league games so far this season and has conceded just over a goal a game on average, with 22 conceded in those 21 games.

He has caught the eye with several top displays and has been a huge reason why the Black Cats have performed above expectations.

Granit Xhaka – Bayer Leverkusen to Sunderland, £17.3m

We simply had to include another of Sunderland’s summer transfers on this list. Xhaka has been phenomenal for Regis Le Bris’ side in midfield, bringing leadership and quality.

He has contributed in all areas and has been the heartbeat of this Sunderland side, contributing five assists in the league this season.

Not known for his goals, he has still managed to chip in with one this season, in the 1-1 draw with Everton in November. It would of course be a bonus, like those on offer at these real money online pokies, if he could deliver more in the second half of the season.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin – Everton to Leeds, free

It does not get any cheaper than a free transfer.

Of course no transfer is truly free. There are signing-on fees and agent fees to be paid. But Leeds got themselves a phenomenal deal in snapping up Calvert-Lewin following the expiration of his contract at Everton

The striker has scored nine goals in 19 league games and has put himself into contention for the England World Cup squad based on current form.

Michael Kayode – Fiorentina to Brentford, £14m

The Italian defender spent the second half of last season on loan at Brentford, before making his move permanent this summer.

Aside from his outstanding long throw ins, which has been a major source of Brentford’s goals, the 21-year-old has impressed with his physicality and athleticism, providing a threat in attack as well as being strong defensively.
