Cercle Brugge have announced the signing of central defender Lucas Perrin from German second division side Hamburg. The 26-year-old defender will initially join the side on loan until the end of the season, with the Belgian side having negotiated a purchase option as part of the deal. Cercle needed an experienced central defender to help them pull away from the relegation zone, something that they have been doing in recent weeks.

Perrin began his career in his native France with Marseille. Between 2019 and 2021 he only made 13 appearances for the senior side. During his spell with the club he spent a season on loan at Strasbourg, who he eventually joined on a permanent basis in the summer of 2022. He went on to play over 50 games for the side before he moved to Bundesliga 2 this past summer on a free. He has only made six appearances for the German side since joining.
