As reported by L’Équipe, the semi-final tie between fourth-tier Versailles and Ligue 1 Nice will be held at Nice’s Allianz Riviera, despite Versailles being drawn as the home team.
With the FFF’s rule requiring that a team drawn against another from two or more divisions above host the fixture, Versailles, whose home ground Stade Montbauron has a maximum capacity of 6,200, originally considered playing at one of three other stadiums in Paris.
Since PSG refused their request to use the Parc des Princes, Versailles have tried a number of other stadiums, including Lens’ Stade Bollaert-Delelis and Paris FC’s Stade Charléty, which was deemed impossible for security reasons.
As a result, the fixture will be held in Nice, which seems to be as a last resort.
