He hasn't played more than 16 games in a single season for Blades since joining from Everton in 2023
Details have emerged of the extreme lengths Sheffield United went to in trying to resolve Tom Davies' injury issues.
Which comes after it was announced on Monday afternoon that the 27-year-old is going to be departing Bramall Lane at the end of the season.
In a statement posted to X on Blades' official profile, the club noted, "Boss Chris Wilder and officials at Sheffield United thank Tom for his service and wish him well for the future."
According to Capology estimates, Davies has earned £30k-per-week since arriving in the summer of 2023 from Everton, yet only played 36 times. So, what exactly did the South Yorkshire club do to try and get him on the pitch more than that?

In a bid to unlock the root of Davies' recurring fitness battles, Sheffield United pulled out all the stops, as per a fresh development from The Star.
Blades apparently sent both the midfielder and a club doctor on a trip to Germany late last year to see a "specialist." This followed an earlier visit in 2024 to a renowned neuroscience clinic in Munich, said to be frequented by stars like Bayern Munich's Manuel Neuer and David Alaba.
The reason for this is probably quite clear to Unitedites, as the Blades sought to combat the persistent issues that had continued to limit the midfielder's playing time.
When at Everton, it was announced by the Premier League side in 2022 that Davies had undergone successful surgery on an injured hamstring - just as he was recovering from a separate knee issue.
Along with both aforementioned hamstring and knee problems - a "persistent" calf issue was also named by The BBC. It was also revealed by Wilder in November last year that Davies had to pull out of training "regarding his calf."

Davies himself has opened up about the mental toll of all these prolonged injury lay-offs, describing how it "freezes you" and turns your world upside down.
In quotes taken from The Star, Davies once said, "With an injury, it’s sort of like it freezes you – you can’t affect anything and you’re conscious of how long you’ve been injured for. It can become a very lonely place and when it’s your only focus, it can be like your world is injured too."
"You don’t want to leave the house because you don’t know what to do. Or because you’re injured you can’t connect to other people because you’re feeling bad yourself. I think for me, it’s a massive help to have other interests," the midfielder added.
It was highlighted in the leaving statement that the Toffees academy graduate "has been a keen advocate of the club and Community Foundation's efforts in the battle against mental health issues."
Ultimately, the England youth international could well step away from football entirely. He is the managing director of ChopValue UK, a business that turns chopsticks into furniture.
In an extract taken from their website, Davies wants to ‘open the initial Microfactory in his hometown of Liverpool to serve as the flagship location.’
