Wilder gives fresh injury updates on Sheffield United trio

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder says Kalvin Phillips is close to returning to first-team action – but Ryan One and Tahith Chong are unlikely to be available this week.

The Blades take on Blackburn Rovers in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday and providing a team news update ahead of the game, Wilder said: “We’ve got a couple of enforced from the weekend.

“We’re not expecting Ryan and Tahith Chong back for the weekend, but it’s ongoing, hopefully off the back of a good week (of training) for them.

“We don’t want to rush players back and take chances, it’s important for them and for me to have some continuity and we don’t need to take risks at this part of the season.

“When they’re back, they’ll be ready to step into first-team football for hopefully a long period.

“Kalvin is close to a return to being involved as well.”
