Chelsea feel Liam Rosenior will turn out to be a “better fit” as head coach than Enzo Maresca according to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol.

Rosenior was confirmed as Chelsea’s new head coach on Tuesday, and the former Strasbourg boss has penned a six and a half year contract at Stamford Bridge.

The 41-year-old will take charge of his first game against Charlton in the FA Cup on Saturday, and is expected to be in the stands for Wednesday’s game again Fulham.

Chelsea feel Liam Rosenior will be a better fit than Enzo Maresca

It’s been quite the start to the year for Chelsea after they parted ways with Maresca on New Years day and they will be hoping for some stability over the second half of the season.

The appointment of Rosenior has been met with criticism, but if he can start picking up results quickly he will start to win people over.

Chelsea have reportedly told Rosenior Champions League qualification is “critical” and the Blues currently sit fifth, although they are only four points above fourteenth.

Supporters were disappointed to see Maresca go, but Solhekol has reported the Blues feel Rosenior will be a better fit as head coach.

“I wouldn’t call him a ‘yes’ man,” he told Sky Sports.

“I think the feeling at Chelsea is that Liam Rosenior will turn out to be a ‘better fit’ as a head coach than Enzo Maresca.

“I think some of the issues were with his relationships behind the scenes with some key people, with the medical and performance department, with what he said at press conferences.”

Chelsea need three points against Fulham

Calum McFarlane will once again lead the team against Fulham, and will desperately be looking to build on the performance against Manchester City.

The Blues head to their London neighbours on a run of just one win in their last eight league games, knowing they can’t afford to drop more points.

Chelsea will be boosted by the return of Moises Caicedo from suspension, whilst it’s hoped Robert Sanchez, Wesley Fofana and Marc Cucurella could all return.
