Individual errors and lapses in concentration have been what’s cost Chelsea in recent games claims one journalist.
We’re still taking a look at the wreckage of Chelsea’s draw with Burnley this weekend, and so is Dom Smith of the Evening Standard.
He has an interesting take on where Liam Rosenior’s players have been going wrong as they made it two games in a row against struggling teams without picking up maximum points.
“Individual errors and lapses in concentration have been the one negative thread woven through Rosenior’s first 12 matches in charge,” was his summary, and he backed it up with some examples.

The “missed assignment” (as Rosenior called it) on the corner at the death which Burnley equalised from. The stupid red card which Wesley Fofana picked up earlier in the game.
The Moises Caicedo penalty given away against Leeds. The general defensive chaos which led to their second.
That’s four errors (or collections of errors) in two games, which has cost us four points. For all the positives we’ve seen from Rosenior’s impact, this is something which hasn’t changed from the Enzo Maresca era just yet.
Time is running out to get these players playing at a higher level, and Rosenior will be working hard with another free midweek to make it happen.
Chelsea’s recent form has been a little masked by an FA Cup win and a late winner over West Ham, as pundits have pointed out.
The Rest is Football podcast paid tribute to Joao Pedro today, pointing out that he was in great form and looking like one of the better striker buys from last summer.
