When a player scores from a rabona shot, the footballing world goes into meltdown.

Last season, former Tottenham winger Erik Lamela produced the goods in a north London derby against Arsenal.

The Argentine's skilful effort resulted in those who witnessed it first-hand losing their minds, which is understandable given how difficult the move is to execute correctly in a professional setting.

But while Lamela's memorable rabona at the Emirates Stadium is probably the best in Premier League history, it's far from the greatest the sport has ever seen.

That accolade belongs to Jonathan Calleri, who fans of the English game may remember from his loan spell at West Ham United in 2016/17.

A few years before joining the Hammers on a temporary basis, the 28-year-old spent a season on the books of Boca Juniors.

Calleri netted 21 goals for the club across all competitions in 2014/15 and one of them in the latter stages of the campaign remains the finest rabona goal ever scored - well, in our opinion anyway.

In a match against Quilmes, the striker who's currently playing for Sao Paulo performed the skill move in a way which allowed him to actually chip the ball over the opposing goalkeeper and into the back of the net.

Take a look at footage of the mind-boggling goal, as well as a passionate celebration from the late Diego Maradona in the stands, below.

We're struggling to think of a way in which Calleri's sublime rabona goal can be topped.

Unless a footballer is somehow able to use the complex skill move to fire the ball into the top corner from the edge of the box, the Argentine's once-in-a-lifetime strike will not be beaten.

Calleri's career pretty much peaked during his short spell with Boca Juniors. He opted to join Deportivo Maldonado on a permanent basis in 2016 and the forward is yet to play a game for the Uruguayan outfit.

Instead, Calleri has been shipped out on loan to various clubs around the world, including Las Palmas, Alaves, Espanyol, Osasuna and current team Sao Paulo.
