Saudi Arabia vs Algeria: the history of their clashes!

The history of encounters between Saudi Arabia and Algeria!
Just hours before the highly anticipated friendly between Algeria and Saudi Arabia, a look at the history between these two sides is enough to remind us that this fixture has never been a walk in the park for the Fennecs. Since their first showdown in the early 1980s, the two nations have faced off seven times across all competitions, and the record clearly tilts in favor of the Saudis.
The first meeting dates back to February 21, 1984, a friendly in Riyadh won by Saudi Arabia (4-2). The following year, during the 1985 Arab Games, the teams met twice: a Saudi win (3-1) and then a hard-fought draw (0-0). In 1986, in a double friendly showdown, the balance was maintained: two draws (0-0 and 1-1), proof that the contests remained tight despite the Saudis' psychological edge.
It would be 1998 before another official encounter, this time at the Arab Cup. The Fennecs suffered one of their heaviest defeats to the Green Falcons: 3-0. More recently, in May 2018, Saudi Arabia once again triumphed in a friendly (2-0), cementing their dominance.
In total: 7 matches – 4 wins for Saudi Arabia, 3 draws, and not a single Algerian victory.
A clear-cut record that Vladimir Petkovic's men are hoping to finally set straight. Because while history hasn't often smiled on Algeria, football always offers a chance to flip the script. Could the showdown in Jeddah mark the Fennecs' first win? Their fans are dreaming of it.
