As we celebrate the 60th anniversary of Celtic’s greatest ever achievement, we are delighted to announce that our finest team ever, the Lisbon Lions are to be honoured at the Estadio Nacional (Jamor) by Lisbon’s city authorities.

The Portuguese Institute for Sport and Youth, through the National Sports Museum, will officially open today in the access tunnel to the National Stadium, the exhibition "From Glasgow to Glory – Celtic's 1967 European Triumph in Jamor, Lisbon" (History of a Victory – The Lisbon Lions), dedicated to Celtic’s memorable European Cup triumph at Lisbon's National Stadium on May 25, 1967.

The installation will be officially unveiled in a fantastic ceremony today when Lisbon Lion, Jim Craig will be welcomed to the city of Lisbon.

Located within the National Stadium tunnel, the exhibition invites visitors to revisit one of the most iconic moments in European football history.

Through photographs, historical content and commemorative objects, visitors will be able to follow the Celtic’s journey to the Lisbon final and explore the enduring legacy of the legendary Lisbon Lions.

The exhibition also pays tribute to the unique bond between Celtic and Jamor (National Stadium). Nearly six decades after the final, the stadium continues to welcome Celtic supporters from around the world who visit Portugal to see the place where the club secured the greatest achievement in its history.

For many supporters, Jamor has become a place of sporting pilgrimage and collective remembrance.

The initiative is the result of a collaboration between the National Sport Museum/Portuguese Institute for Sport and Youth (IPDJ) and Celtic Football Club.

The opening ceremony will also be attended by Portugal's Secretary of State for Youth and Sport and Celtic’s Interim Chairman, Brian Wilson.

More than simply commemorating a victory, the exhibition celebrates the power of sporting memory, the importance of football heritage and the enduring connection between a club, its supporters and a stadium forever written into the history of European sport.

Lisbon Lion Jim Craig said: “It is a fantastic for the club and the Lions to be honoured in this way.

“We will always enjoy such a strong connection with the city and the people of the city and for such recognition to be given to us really is very humbling.

‘I remember being in that tunnel all those years ago - the anticipation, the trepidation and above all, the feeling of pride.’

“It will be amazing to be back in that tunnel as we attend this wonderful event. It is hard to believe that our famous victory took place almost 60 years ago, but initiatives like this really do keep this alive and bring even more colour again to that great day so many years on.

“On behalf of the Lions and all our families, I sincerely thank everyone who has put so much effort into this great project.”

The exhibition will be in place for an entire year, with supporters able to visit and view this great tribute when the stadium is open from Monday – Friday.
