But who could come in to succeed Slot?
Well one name on the list already appears to be Oliver Glasner. The 51-year-old Austrian has worked wonders at Crystal Palace since replacing Roy Hodgson in 2024.
The ex-Eintracht Frankfurt boss took Palace to their first piece of major silverware last season - the FA Cup - and followed it up by winning the Community Shield against the Reds.
Out of contract at the end of the season it appears Glasner is now destined for bigger and better things.
And one report in Football Insider now suggests that Richard Hughes should take a temperature check on Glasner’s future before making any decision over Slot.
“The Austrian feels destined for a big job in the coming months after he led Palace to their first ever piece of major silverware last term, and he will undoubtedly be on the radar of some of the world’s biggest clubs,” a report reads.
"Glasner is currently leading Crystal Palace in their first European campaign in 27 years, and with that in mind, Liverpool should be trying to seek assurances regarding his future before they make a snap decision on Slot.
“The 47-year-old achieved great things during his first campaign in charge, but if the Reds make contact with Glasner’s camp and the indication is that he would be prepared to jump ship mid-season, then it could potentially be the final nail in the coffin for him.”
