Trevoh Chalobah has been one of the most desperately underrated players at Chelsea we can remember. That goes for the media, some Blues fans, our sporting directors and a succession of coaches.

Finally this year he’s convinced everyone that he’s the best option we’ve got at the back (not that that’s saying much given our current crop of defenders) and he’s played whenever he’s been fit.

Chalobah Chelsea’s “most consistent defender” says Cahill

One person who does appreciate him is Gary Cahill. The Chelsea defender spoke at length about Chalobah in an interview with the Evening Standard this week:

“Having seen Chelsea a lot of times this season and the number of changes and injuries they’ve had at the back, he’s been the constant — the more consistent defender for Chelsea,” Cahill said.

“His attitude since he came back from Crystal Palace has been tremendous, the way he’s produced the performances he has for Chelsea,” the Champions League winner continued.

Cahill was also underrated in his time at Chelsea, so he knows what he’s talking about.

In other news…

We’re very curious about who gets picked at centre back for Chelsea on Monday – it will tell us a lot about the Blues’ plans.

There’s a lot of negativity around Chelsea at the moment – understandably so. But one journalist still insists that it will only take one or two good transfer windows to get the Blues back on track.
