Football League World takes a look at the owners behind all 24 EFL Championship clubs and how much they are estimated to be worth.
The Championship has no shortage of wealth and ambition, with clubs striving for a Premier League future.
Some are controlled by individual billionaires, whilst others belong to family businesses or investment companies, and some have much broader structures at the helm.
With this in mind, Football League World has used the wealth of the ultimate controlling individual where this is clear. Company assets under management have not been treated as an owner's personal wealth, while N/A has been used when no sensible or reliable figure is available.
Dollar figures have also been converted into pounds using the exchange rate on August 25, 2026.
With the second tier of English football in view, FLW looks at the net worth of those in charge as their respective sides fight for a future in the Premier League.

Since arriving in 2023, Knighthead Capital Management have overseen a remarkable change in mood around Birmingham City, with co-founder Tom Wagner serving as Blues chairman.
The ownership sits through Shelby Companies Limited, with the holding increasing to 96.64 per cent in November 2025, giving Wagner almost full control of the club.
Tom Brady may be the most recognisable name associated with the project in the Second City, but Wagner is the key figure behind Knighthead's involvement.
The company itself manages billions of dollars for investors, and it is important not to confuse this with Wagner's own wealth, with his net worth reported at around £1.34 billion by BirminghamLive.

The Venky's, run by the Rao family, have been at the helm of Blackburn since 2010, with 99.9 per cent of the shares acquired when the club was bought from the Jack Walker Trust.
In 2023, The Sunderland Echo estimated a net worth of around £1.66 billion.
The group does not have the best reputation at Ewood Park, though, which is no surprise given the instability since relegation from the Premier League in 2012.
As previously discussed by Football League World, the Rao family are the sixth-richest owners in the Championship, and their lack of ambition has triggered annoyance among supporters.

Bolton are one of the three Championship clubs where putting one person's fortune next to the club would be misleading.
Football Ventures Limited helped rescue Wanderers from administration in 2019, with Sharon Brittan becoming chairman, but a wider group of investors now holds ownership.
Official Bolton Wanderers company information identifies Michael James, Keith Morris, and BMLL Limited among the individuals with a key interest, and online figures show Brittan's personal wealth. Still, these often confuse the net assets of the companies with which she is associated.
Alongside this, there is no combined valuation for Football Ventures.

Compared with other Championship clubs, much less detective work is required for Bristol City.
Steve Lansdown has been involved with the Robins for more than two decades and built his fortune after co-founding financial services giant Hargreaves Lansdown alongside Peter Hargreaves.
In the city, his investment extends beyond football with Bristol Sport, which encompasses other sports clubs in the city.
In 2026, The Sunday Times Rich List put his fortune at £1.25 billion, making Bristol City one of several second-tier clubs with a billionaire behind the ownership structure.

Burnley have been under ALK Capital's control since the American investment completed the takeover in 2020.
Alan Pace is the official chairman, having co-founded ALK, and Burnley's latest accounts continue to identify him as the controlling party.
Published estimates of his personal wealth fall between £190 million and £270 million, with this list opting for the more conservative figure.

Vincent Tan's association with Cardiff stretches back to 2010, and the Malaysian businessman is still the controlling figure in South Wales.
His tenure has not been without controversy, with Tan changing the club's home colours from blue to red in 2012, but he has continued to support the Bluebirds financially.
His wealth comes from a business empire centred on Berjaya Corporation, with interests ranging from property to retail and telecommunications.
In 2026, Forbes valued Tan at approximately £689 million.

GFP emerged during the early-2020s boom in multi-club investment vehicles, bringing together private investors with backgrounds in sports management, finance, and international holdings.
Charlton were acquired in 2023, bringing stability to the club after a turbulent decade.
The Addicks were promoted to the Championship in 2025, but the group at the helm are now looking to sell, just three years after taking over at The Valley.
In terms of value, individual members have published wealth estimates, but there is no estimated worth for a controlling member of the club.

Derby could well have had a different name on this list if Turki Alalshikh's Lion Sport takeover had gone through.
However, David Clowes announced that the Rams were being taken off the market after Alalshikh withdrew, meaning that the Saudi boxing promoter's search for a Championship club goes on.
Clowes rescued his boyhood club from administration in 2022, before leading Derby back to the Championship in 2024.
His family made their money through property development, with the 2026 Sunday Times Rich List estimating a fortune of £385 million.

Lincoln City have undergone a significant change at the top in the year of their ascent to the Championship.
American businessman Ron Fowler became chairman in February 2026, with his Liquid Investments group increasing the stake beyond the 25% threshold to trigger the EFL's change-of-control process.
The structure is unusual: Harvey Jabara's HJ-LCFC Holdings has the larger stake, but Fowler and Liquid Investments are in the controlling position and will be responsible for future funding.
Fowler previously held a role with Major League Baseball team San Diego Padres, and his fortune is estimated at £366 million.

Few owners up and down the English pyramid are as closely associated with their club as Steve Gibson is with Middlesbrough.
The Teesside businessman has been in control for more than three decades, and has provided financial backing through several promotions, relegations, and attempts to return to the Premier League.
The latest figure published in the 2024 Sunday Times Rich List estimates Gibson's net worth at £640 million.
