- Football's new independent regulator has proposed significantly tighter rules on club ownership, aiming to address issues with "rogue owners".
- The proposed Owners, Directors and Senior Executives Test (ODSE) would grant the regulator powers to force the sale of a club from an owner.
- Unlike current regulations, the new body could compel an owner to divest or appoint a trustee to run a club, rather than just expelling the club.
- The regulator will have enhanced authority to assess the honesty, integrity, and financial soundness of owners, directors, and senior executives.
- This initiative is the first action from the new regulator, with a consultation process for the ODSE running until 6 October.
