Wolves’ relegation has been confirmed and planning for the Championship is under way, with a core squad being lined up. According to The Athletic, the club want to keep a select group to anchor a new-look side.
West Ham’s draw with Crystal Palace last night made survival mathematically impossible, ending Wolves’ eight-season Premier League stay.
The group comprises Yerson Mosquera, Santiago Bueno, Ladislav Krejci, Toti Gomes, Hugo Bueno, Pedro Lima, Rodrigo Gomes, Jean-Ricner Bellegarde and Mateus Mane.
Keeping all of them may prove difficult. There have been suggestions Leeds United have eyes on Krejci, while Rodrigo Gomes has also attracted attention. It would be no surprise if Santiago Bueno attracted suitors.
Andre and Joao Gomes are practically certain to leave. Tolu Arokodare has been fined by the club after an altercation with Mateus Mane.
This is a pivotal summer for Wolves. If Fosun get it wrong, the club could end up fighting at the wrong end of the Championship.
