Indomitable Lions coach David Pagou has acknowledged the formidable challenge his team faces against a "strong and stubborn" South African side. Speaking ahead of their Sunday evening clash in Rabat, Pagou admitted the odds are heavily stacked against his squad.

His assessment stems from Bafana Bafana's impressive performance in the previous Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, where they secured an unexpected third-place finish despite being in a rebuilding phase.

"We are satisfied because we qualified," Pagou stated. "During the last Africa Cup of Nations, South Africa had a very good run. They will be under pressure because we are a team in the making. It will be a very complicated match."

He elaborated on the threats posed by Hugo Broos' team, highlighting their cohesive unit and strong domestic foundations. "We know South Africa are strong and stubborn opponents. They have a competitive domestic league and players who know each other very well, so the match will be complicated."

Despite the daunting prospect, Pagou outlined his team's approach, focusing on their own capabilities. "We will play to our strengths and try to make things difficult for them. The goal is to show up strongly and deliver a good performance."
