After a wretched start, Wolves have moved beyond Derby County’s infamous 11-point Premier League low and are eyeing further markers with seven matches still to play.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, Wolves endured an awful opening under Vitor Pereira, who was sacked and replaced by former defender Rob Edwards, yet results initially remained bleak and they sat bottom.

An upturn over the festive period brought performances and points, pushing them past Derby and clear of other unwanted totals too, including Southampton’s 12, Sunderland’s 15, and the 16 posted by Sheffield United and Huddersfield Town.

They now stand level with the number Aston Villa reached in 2017/18 when Villa were relegated, with 21 points still available.

From here, targets include 19 for Sunderland in 2002/03, 21 for Norwich in 2019/20, 22 for Norwich in 2021/22, and 23 for Sheffield United in 2020/21.

Further ahead are 24 for Watford in 1999/00 and Sunderland in 2016/17, and 25 for Wolves in 2011/12, QPR in 2012/13 and Southampton in 2022/23.

Bradford’s 26 in 2000/01, 28 for Leicester in 2001/02 and Watford in 2006/07, then 30 for Cardiff in 2013/14 and QPR in 2014/15, also remain in range.
