Defensive crisis at Real Madrid: José Mourinho seeks emergency solutions ahead of Villarreal

With center-back Antonio Rüdiger the only available option to face Villarreal next October 10, Real Madrid coach José Mourinho is facing a real tactical puzzle after Dean Huijsen’s suspension, Raúl Asencio being sidelined, and Ibrahima Konaté still recovering.

Given this bleak situation in Madrid’s back line, the Portuguese manager is seriously considering converting midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni or even full-back Denzel Dumfries to put together a fully reliable center-back pairing.

With no room for error in the league, the Portuguese coach is being forced to improvise immediate solutions while speeding up Éder Militão’s return to full fitness for the coming matchdays.
