FLW details why Tom Brady won’t be attending the Hollywood blockbuster clash.
Birmingham City minority shareholder Tom Brady won’t be attending Blues’ Hollywood blockbuster clash with Wrexham due to other punditry commitments.
The West Midlands outfit make the short trip to the CBS Arena to face Coventry City this weekend in the second-tier, while the first installment of midweek games begins as they host a struggling Sheffield Wednesday next Tuesday.
Just three days after their meeting with the Owls sees Chris Davies’ men make the trip across the border to North Wales as the two most high-profile investors go head-to-head.
There was palpable excitement when the two sides clashed together in League One last season, with Blues recording a 3-1 victory at St Andrews last September, while it was a 1-1 draw at the Racecourse Ground in January.
And it promises to be another passionate and fiery encounter, particularly when the two teams have started in very similar fashion.
Both have stepped up to the challenge of the second-tier challenge, with three points separating Wrexham from Blues, with the Red Dragons positioned in 16th place, while Birmingham are on the periphery of the play-off places, highlighting how closely contested the league is.
A lot can change between now and when the game kicks off, adding further spice to an already enthralling encounter, but the fixture won’t have the backing from Brady in the stands.
With this in mind, Football League World delves deeper into why Brady won’t be at the Racecourse Ground next Friday evening.
As per a report by Neil Moxley at Give Me Sport, it is detailed that Tom Brady won’t be in attendance for Birmingham City’s trip to Wrexham due to other punditry commitments in the US.
Brady famously turned up at St Andrews last term for when Blues hosted Wrexham, which was also attended by the likes of Gary Neville and David Beckham, but he didn’t show up for last season’s clash at the Racecourse Ground, and won’t be doing this season either.
Brady is understood to be appearing on Fox Sports as the San Francisco 49ers host the Los Angeles Rams next Thursday night in the NFL, making it almost impossible for him to make the trip back to Britain due to the time difference.
However, Tom Wagner is planning to be attending the match, as he did so on their travels to North Wales last time out.
Birmingham City got the better of Wrexham last season in both league positions and when they faced off, collecting four points from the two games they played against the Red Dragons in the third-tier.
They’ve also started the better of the two sides in the Championship, and there will be confidence in the camp that they can continue that record with an even stronger squad this term.
The atmosphere and occasion will be something that the team has to overcome, but some of the squad dealt with the hostilities from last term and will have better ways of coping with the intense demands.
The clash at the Racecourse Ground is set to be frenetic and optimises what so many love about Championship football, with it the perfect game to kick off matchday nine.
