Seldom used at senior level by Flamengo, right-back Daniel Sales remains in demand, with interest from three European clubs in the current window. He has turned down the most recent approach and will stay in Rio.

According to FlaZoeiro and FlaBase, Arouca proposed a free loan with a fixed fee for a future purchase, but the 20-year-old rejected it in favour of remaining at Flamengo.

The clubs to show interest are Arouca and Porto, both of Portugal, and Göztepe of Türkiye.

Under contract until December 2028, Sales intends to continue with Flamengo’s under-20s and believes he can earn a place under Leonardo Jardim. Competition is stiff, with Guillermo Varela and Emerson Royal trusted by the coach.

This has not been his best season. An injury kept him out for two months and his return has been gradual, with 20 minutes against Nova Iguaçu on 15 August in the Carioca under-20 and 16 minutes against Boavista on Saturday 22.

At senior level he has 12 appearances with two assists. This season he has featured four times, all in the Campeonato Carioca. He is set to be available for the under-20s against Madureira on Saturday 29 at 10:00, Brasília time, in the state competition.
