The January window is open and Wolves face a three-point checklist this month. According to Molineux.news, Rob Edwards has funds to recruit, though outgoings may also be necessary.

First, move on anyone not committed. Matt Doherty suggested earlier in December that some players are angling for exits. If that is the case, Wolves must act early and cash in, because if survival is still possible they need total buy-in even with relegation looking likely.

Up front, at least two forwards are required if links to Jorgen Strand Larsen departing materialise. They cannot be left with only one recognised centre-forward, and interest in Sam Surridge and Hibernian’s Kieron Bowie points to activity in that area.

A winger is also needed, with the current options, aside from Mateus Mane, offering little promise.

Finally, the goalkeeping picture needs clarity. Jose Sa and Sam Johnstone have effectively swapped the gloves, with the Portuguese back in as number one. Edwards dropping Johnstone may signal doubts over both, and another change would not surprise, so he needs a keeper he fully trusts.
