Appointed France head coach on 28 July, Zinédine Zidane is closing in on his first match in charge, with family voices pointing to high excitement.
"He is very happy and impatient to start," said his son Théo, speaking to Marca.
The mood mirrors Zidane’s presentation at the FFF, where he described the job as a long‑held dream. Out of work since leaving Real Madrid in 2021, he had said he turned down club offers to remain available for the national team.
His arrival had been prepared over time by Philippe Diallo, who contacted him in February 2025 following the announcement of Didier Deschamps’ planned departure.
Zidane still has to finalise his staff, with appointments due in early September, before a busy first international window. France open on 25 September in Türkiye, then face Belgium, Italy and Belgium again at the Stade de France.
