There’s something about Danny Rohl many Rangers fans overlook

We’re going to be brave about Danny Rohl on Ibrox Noise as we often like to be, and call something out. We know fine well the Happy Clappers will be out in force here, but we’re going to accept that.
We know the full Happy Clapper Playbook will be deployed:
So we brace ourselves for that predictable response.
But here we go:
Danny Rohl is another fail for Rangers. A likeable enough bloke, we suppose, but we don’t care about liking the manager. It’s just a nice bonus. We want him to be good at his job.
We didn’t hear a single defence of either the XI he selected v Braga, or his absurd substitutions. No one praised him.
We’ve said from the start he is scraping lucky wins in the league, but in Europe he is completely out of his depth. And while Rangers got a point in Govan, no one can tell us Rohl’s management was why.
It was a debatable penalty, and shows how soft the rules are these days that that was given. As Ally McCoist rightly said, at the other end we’re screaming at VAR conspiracies. And we have!
Rohl is another manager making very similar errors to all who came before him.
Chermiti still starts (boy was he abysmal), Raskin keeps his place despite doing little, and the biggie – not bothering with a decent defence. Using Max Aarons!
He even deployed the Russell Martin playbook before this one – defending Chermiti by saying he trains well. We had to laugh at that one.
Rohl is a lower-Championship-level manager out of his depth at Rangers – no shame in that. We’d have taken the job for the wage and severance if we were him too.
But there’s a big caveat about Rohl that many, and we mean MANY Rangers fans are rather overlooking.
He was a Kevin Thelwell choice.
That’s right, the guy you/we all despise picked Rohl specifically as Rangers head coach. Thelwell, who signed a bunch of garbage on the playing side and on his staff, deliberately picked Rohl as well.
For all the fans whining at the squad saying it’s Thelwell’s fault, well, he picked the manager too.
Nothing much about this regime is really doing it for us.
And sooner or later Rohl’s domestic luck in the league will run out too.
And we’re sure we’ll get called tims for this article – just like we were all year for calling out Russell Martin.
Que sera.
