Copa Libertadores holders Fluminense could be knocked out in the Round of 16 on Tuesday – but Thiago Silva is ensuring they won’t go down without a fight.
The 39-year-old returned to his boyhood club earlier this summer and on the grand stage has delivered when it mattered most.
Fluminense were down 2-1 to Grêmio after the first leg but the captain turned things all square with a thumping header from just above the penalty spot.
It goes down as Silva’s first goal for the club since 2008 – a staggering 16 years ago!
Silva’s side backed up the opener with another goal just minutes later, this time from the penalty-spot. The drama continues to ramp up.
How important could this moment be for the captain?!
