West Ham United will travel to St James’ Park to face Newcastle United on Monday night after the international break.

The Hammers have picked up only two wins in their last nine games in the Premier League, and Julen Lopetegui is under a lot of pressure.

The Spaniard replaced David Moyes at West Ham in the summer, and he was properly backed with transfer funds to rebuild the squad.

The new signings have not performed to expectations, and one fails to understand what Lopetegui is trying to develop at the club.

West Ham are 14th in the Premier League with only 12 points on board. A few wins on the trot could change the scenario, but it needs to happen quickly.

Lopetegui retains the backing of the West Ham board, and Gabby Agbonlahor suggests that the club will give him more time.

What Gabby Agbonlahor has said about West Ham on talkSPORT

Speaking on talkSPORT, Agbonlahor said: “I don’t think West Ham would sack Lopetegui.”

Alan Brazil responded: “Why?”

Agbonlahor: “I start to think they’ll give him more time.”

Brazil added: “By the way, I am not sure he is a bad manager, but I’m not happy with West Ham’s playing.”

Agbonlahor added: “He is under pressure, isn’t he?”

Massive few games for West Ham coming up

West Ham spent a lot of money in the summer to add several quality players to the ranks, but the results have been very poor.

The Hammers have conceded 19 goals in the Premier League this season, and Lopetegui must take care to fix their leaky defence.

According to Jacob Steinberg of The Guardian, Lopetegui has only two Premier League games to save his job.

The next two games for West Ham are against Newcastle and Arsenal, and it would require a massive effort from the players to pick up maximum points.
