Thierry Rendall has confirmed his departure from Valencia in a social media post after his contract expired on 30 June. The club had shown no intention of renewing his deal and have not yet announced his exit.

He expressed pride in representing Valencia, adding that stepping into Mestalla and feeling the supporters' force will stay with him. He acknowledged the journey was not always easy and that it helped him grow as a footballer and, above all, as a person.

He leaves after 159 official appearances. In La Liga he played 145 of 266 possible, 54 per cent, with injuries a constant presence, particularly across the past two seasons. He suffered and battled through difficult physical and mental spells, yet kept working and believing.

He reflected that the last two years were difficult and that this chapter ends differently from how he wished and felt he deserved. He leaves with fond memories and lifelong friendships, and offered gratitude to team-mates, coaches, staff and supporters for their backing in good times and bad.

One of the club's captains in recent years, he served seven seasons at Valencia, the fourth-longest stint under Lim. Only José Gayà, Jaume and Mouctar Diakhaby have been there longer in that period. He is close to Venezia.
