Arsenal legend Thierry Henry will be honoured at a BBC ceremony. According to L'Équipe, the 48-year-old will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2025 on Thursday 18 November.
In 2024 the award went to Sir Mark Cavendish.
Henry scored 228 goals in 377 appearances across two spells for Arsenal, surpassing Ian Wright as the club’s record scorer in 2005. He won three FA Cups and two Premier League titles, including the 2003-2004 Invincibles season when Arsenal went unbeaten.
He claimed the Premier League Golden Boot four times and made the PFA Team of the Year in six straight seasons. He also holds the joint record for most assists in a Premier League season, 20, alongside Kevin de Bruyne.
After retiring in 2014, Henry worked as a studio pundit for BBC Sport at Euro 2016 and coached in Arsenal’s academy. He then became Roberto Martinez’s assistant with Belgium in 2016.
He was appointed Monaco head coach in October 2018, leaving after three months, then led Montreal Impact from 2019 to 2021. In 2023 he took charge of France Under-21s and managed the France Olympic team to silver at Paris 2024 after defeat to Spain in the final.
Henry said football gave him everything and he gave everything in return, and that being recognised in its history with this career honour is something he will never take for granted.
