Things to know if travelling to St James’ Park

Direct trains to from London to Newcastle will not operate on matchday or the following day due to planned engineering works.
We have found three alternative routes for you to get to Newcastle:
To comfortably make it to Newcastle in time to meet other fans before kick-off, you will need to leave before midday.
The last train that will get you back to London on matchday (requiring changes at Peterborough and Bedford) leaves at 18.58, before full-time.
To get a train back after the game, you will need to travel the following morning. If you’re staying the night, see hotel suggestions in our section below.
We recommend that you use the National Rail journey planner to plan your route to the match and home again, and book tickets in advance.
From Newcastle train station, St James’ Park is a 10-minute walk away. You also can board the Yellow Line metro from the train station to St James’ Metro Station.
To get to Newcastle from London, head north on the M1 and later the A1. At Gateshead, exit onto the A184 to approach the city. The journey takes between five and six hours.
On-site parking at St James' Park is typically busy with home fans. Newcastle advises that there is no unreserved public parking at the ground.
Instead, there are a number of car parks in the city centre as well as pay and display locations. Use this map of the area to find and book parking. The nearest public car parks to the ground are The Gate Car Park and the Royal Victoria Infirmary. Big Parking also operate a car park at a school near the ground.
Park and ride options are available from outside of the city, costing only £2 with no booking required, available before and after kick-off. Find out more here.
Tickets for this fixture will be distributed digitally. You will receive your ticket(s) by email ahead of the match. Please follow the instructions on the email to get your ticket ready on your phone.
Any duplicate ticket requests must be sent to Newcastle United by the Brentford box office.
For those that have requested a physical ticket or have sent a duplicate ticket request, the ticket office for away fans is located in the Leazes Stand on the north side of the stadium, open 90 minutes before kick-off.
Please contact Brentford's box office with any enquiries ahead of matchday. If you’re collecting your ticket at St James’ Park, please remember to bring ID.
Please also observe and respect the family friendly seating. Anyone who holds a ticket in this area is reminded that they should be seated for the duration of the match.
The hosts have accessible seating and wheelchair bays on Level 7. There are also accessible toilets and access to changing facilities. A lift is also available for disabled supporters and those with other conditions who wish to avoid or are unable to walk up the fourteen flights of stairs.
There are sixteen wheelchair spaces in the away end, and the club’s fan support team are quick to assist with any help needed.
Disabled parking is operated on a ballot basis. Away fans must email car.parking@nufc.co.uk to see if they have a space a week before the event once the hosts have done a ballot.
Assistance dogs are welcome however the club must be contacted in advance as well as being in a seat which can accommodate this. Accessibility support can be contacted on disabilitysupport@nufc.co.uk.
Newcastle United famously has the most pubs in a square mile from the stadium in the Premier League, with over a hundred in this area.
Most pubs welcome away fans, but there is no designated away pub. The Head of Steam and ChaChaBuchi near to Newcastle train station will be open to Brentford fans. All venues in the city retain the right to turn visiting fans away, particularly those in club colours.
The away section is in the Leazes Stand on the north side of the stadium. Use turnstiles 89-94 to enter, open 90 minutes before kick-off.
All fans will be searched on entry and expect to use of search dogs. Bags will also be searched. Stewards have the right to turn away any large bags and there are no storage facilities available at the ground.
If you need to stay the night, Newcastle is renowned as one of the UK’s best nightlife cities. The city centre has hundreds of bars to choose from, and dozens of nightclubs open until the early hours of the morning.
There are plenty of hotels across the city to suit all budgets, including Premier Inn, Travelodge, Crowne Plaza and a range of independent places.
