Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim could have Harry Maguire at his disposal in the coming days, and potentially count on his services in the weekend.
The 32-year-old was the ultimate hero at Anfield, as he rose above his marker to score the late winner against Liverpool.
However, Maguire was ruled out of Saturday’s contest against Brighton with an injury. Amorim had revealed that the defender and Mason Mount were both in doubt in his pre-match press conference on Friday. While the midfielder managed to overcome his scare and earn a call-up, the big centre-back was nowhere to be seen on matchday.
Even though the Red Devils managed to prevail in his absence, some would argue that the Sheffield native’s presence may have prevented the Seagulls’ uprising in the second, as they managed to rally from 3-0 to 3-2, before being quelled by Bryan Mbeumo’s late strike.
Therefore, Amorim and his staff will be hoping to have Maguire at their disposal as swiftly as possible.
Thankfully for Man Utd, Carrington insider Sully confirms that the Englishman has been making significant progress on the training ground.

In his latest update on Centre Devils, the journalist revealed that Maguire has been ‘working extremely hard’ to regain match fitness.
The former Leicester star did a strength and rehabilitation session on Monday, while his teammates were enjoying an extra day off. He’ll be hoping to rejoin group training at some point during the week, which would pave the way for a call-up against Nottingham Forest at the weekend.
While it remains to be seen if the big defender will recover in time, Amorim will be able to rely on Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Luke Shaw at the back, as he continues to await the return of Lisandro Martinez from his long injury layoff.
Since Amorim likes to introduce a fresh pair of legs at the back during the second half, Maguire’s return to action would be a major boost.
The England international has been a player reborn since Amorim’s appointment last November. Gary Liniker hailed Maguire’s ‘terrific’ displays under the Portuguese manager.
