On Wednesday 15 July 1923, Genoa beat Lazio 4-1 in the first leg of the national final for the Scudetto, and hardly needed any extra help from the referee.

On Friday 18 July 2003, Inzaghi and Stankovic sealed a 2-0 friendly victory over Chelsea at the Stadio Flaminio, the last major football match staged there.

João Fantoni, born in Belo Horizonte on 24 July 1905, arrived in early 1931 with cousin Octavio, helping launch the Brasilazio wave of Brazilian oriundi under player-manager Barbuy Amilcar. He made 113 appearances and scored 39 goals, and his first child in Rome was named Romano Benito after Mussolini reportedly promised hospital costs if he scored in the derby, which he did despite a 3-1 defeat. He died on 19 July 1982.
