Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey is set to continue playing football in Spain, following reports of a new agreement.
The 32-year-old's contract recently expired with the Gunners, prompting the free agent to look towards LaLiga and more Champions League football experience.
According to The Athletic's David Ornstein on Sunday, Partey will now play for Villarreal. The player has "undergone a medical and is expected to sign a two-year deal" until 2027.
The news arrives a few days before Partey is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court on August 5 after being charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.
Should Partey officially complete the transfer, he will be familiar with the LaLiga experience. The Ghana international previously played for Atlético de Madrid before moving to Arsenal in 2020.
