Matchday 5 of the League Phase of this season’s Champions League ended in success for the Juventus Men’s First Team, who claimed a late 3-2 win away to Bodo/Glimt.

Lois Openda, Weston McKennie, and a stoppage-time winner from Jonathan David were where our goals came from.

THE MATCH

Battling against bitter cold from the start, with snow lining the sidelines, the Bianconeri tried to start on the front foot and get at their hosts. Manuel Locatelli, Francisco Conceicao and Vasilije Adzic each sought to open the scoring, but the hosts’ defence stood strong.

Instead, it was the Norwegian side who grabbed the game’s first goal just before the half-hour mark through Ole Didrik Blomberg. The Bianconeri looked to react through Conceicao and then Adzic, but to no avail.

Things improved in the second half, with Kenan Yildiz on at the break to make his 100th appearance for the Club, a milestone also achieved by Andrea Cambiaso.

Within three minutes of the restart, parity was restored through Lois Openda, pouncing on a ball in the box to sweep it home. A few minutes after, Fabio Miretti had a goal later ruled out, but Weston McKennie did complete the turnaround just a handful of moments later again.

Yildiz and Conceicao continued to probe Bodo/Glimt in search of a goal to double the lead but, again, found stubborn opponents around the penalty area.

Sondre Brunstad Fet levelled things up with a penalty as late as the 87th minute, but Jonathan David was in the right place at the right time to finish from close range in the first minute of stoppage time and seal three valuable points.
