Real Madrid return to La Liga action to make it three consecutive wins in all competitions and keep the pressure firmly on the league leaders.

The trip to face Sevilla may look straightforward on paper, but context matters at this stage of the season.

Real Madrid currently sit second in the table, four points behind Barcelona, knowing that any slip-up could be costly.

Sevilla, meanwhile, find themselves in ninth place, having picked up 20 points from their opening 16 league games.

That said, history is firmly on Madrid’s side. Sevilla have not beaten Los Blancos at Santiago Bernabeu in the league since December 2008, and Real Madrid are currently on a 13-game unbeaten run against them in La Liga

Beyond points, form, and league tables, matches between Real Madrid and Sevilla always carry historic relevance.

Over the years, several high-profile players have worn both shirts, leaving lasting impressions in Madrid and Andalusia alike.

Here, we revisit three of the most recognisable names to represent both Spanish giants.

Sergio Ramos

Few players symbolise the connection between these two clubs better than Sergio Ramos

Signed by Real Madrid in the summer of 2005 for €27 million, Ramos arrived as a teenage defender with huge potential and left as one of the most decorated players in the club’s history.

During his spell at the Santiago Bernabeu, Ramos made more than 650 appearances and became a leader on and off the pitch.

His trophy haul speaks for itself: five La Liga titles, four UEFA Champions League crowns, and countless domestic and international honours.

Known for his clutch goals, aggressive defending, and unmatched competitiveness, Ramos defined an era at Real Madrid.

In 2023, his story came full circle when he returned to Sevilla, the club where it all began, 18 years after leaving.

Even in the latter stages of his career, his presence carried enormous weight, reinforcing his status as one of the most iconic figures to represent both clubs.

Isco

When Isco arrived at Real Madrid in 2013, expectations were high. Madrid paid €30 million to sign the creative midfielder from Malaga, fending off interest from Manchester City in the process.

He became the first signing under new manager Carlo Ancelotti, a clear sign of the club’s faith in his talent.

Across nine seasons in white, Isco featured in more than 350 matches and played a key role in one of the most successful periods in Real Madrid’s history.

He lifted five Champions League trophies and was often the creative heartbeat of the midfield during big European nights.

In 2022, Isco chose to continue his career at Sevilla, signing a two-year deal. However, his time there proved short-lived, lasting just one season before a move to Real Betis.

Despite the brief stay, his inclusion in this exclusive list underlines his impact at the highest level of Spanish football.

Ivan Zamorano

Ivan Zamorano remains a respected voice in Spanish football, long after hanging up his boots.

His journey between Sevilla and Real Madrid is one of steady progression and lasting influence.

Zamorano joined Sevilla in 1990 and spent two productive seasons there, scoring 23 goals in 63 appearances.

His performances earned him a move to Real Madrid in 1992, a transfer that proved decisive for both player and club.

At Madrid, Zamorano enjoyed four successful seasons, winning La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup.

His most memorable campaign came in 1994–95 under manager Jorge Valdano, when he scored 28 league goals to help secure the title.

After leaving Madrid in 1996, he continued his scoring exploits with Inter Milan, cementing his reputation as a prolific forward.
