Three Ligue 1 clubs turn down opportunity to sign former England international Raheem Sterling | OneFootball

Raheem Sterling has been offered to three Ligue 1 clubs, according to Foot Mercato.

The 31-year-old is now a free agent after his short-lived spell at Feyenoord ended, leaving him facing an uncertain future.

Sterling was once one of the Premier League’s most feared attackers but is now a shadow of his former self.

The former Liverpool star won four league titles with Manchester City and established himself as a key player for England (82 caps).

However, his career has taken a sharp downturn in recent seasons.

After becoming surplus to requirements at Chelsea, Sterling failed to rediscover his best form during a loan spell at Arsenal before moving to Feyenoord.

His time in the Netherlands ultimately failed to provide the revival he had hoped for, and he is now searching for another opportunity.

The winger is also dealing with unwanted off-field attention after appearing before an English court earlier this month following a car accident in May.

Sterling reportedly admitted to dangerous driving and possession of nitrous oxide after the incident, although nobody was injured. He was released on bail as the legal process concluded.

He is reportedly determined to continue his playing career and has been prepared to make significant financial sacrifices to secure a new club.

Sterling’s representatives recently approached three Ligue 1 clubs about a potential move.

Le Havre were among those contacted but decided not to pursue the former Manchester City star, believing they already had sufficient options in his position.

Two other French clubs have also rejected the opportunity to sign him.

He is now considering more unconventional destinations as he looks for a route back into competitive football.
