Sidelined for behavioural issues late last season, Portuguese Tiago Santos is intent on convincing Lille's new staff and rediscovering the level he showed before a serious injury in October 2024. According to L'Équipe, he is pushing for a clean slate under Davide Ancelotti.
On Sunday at Angers, he added the second in a 2-0 win, then sprinted straight to his new head coach Davide Ancelotti.
Lined up down the right, he was up against Jacques Ekomie on the opening day.
Ancelotti had first encountered him on two October 2024 at a raucous Pierre-Mauroy, when he was assistant to his father Carlo at Real Madrid. That night he saw an irrepressible presence, keeping tabs on Vinicius Junior and tracking Jude Bellingham's bursts while tearing up the right flank.
After a turbulent spell, Santos' celebration in Angers suggested a line drawn and a new chapter with LOSC.
