América have always sought to have the best players in Liga MX, either signing within Liga MX itself or searching abroad.
Therefore, it is normal that every time a player stands out, especially in Liga MX, that one of the possible destinations for him is to wear the azulcrema.
So when Thiago Volpi was standing out at Querétaro, it was only natural that people began to think that the Brazilian could come to América.
In an interview on Wednesday, Volpi revealed that although he would have loved to come to Mexico City, any potential move was out of his hands.
“When (Agustín) Marchesín went to Porto, there were many rumours but nothing ever came to me.
“I had a commitment. I would have loved it but I was not going to be able to because I was on loan with São Paulo.”
Volpi has since signed a permanent deal with the Brazilian giants, moving in January for an estimated $5m.
